About Dr. Jane A. Braun

Dr. Jane A. Braun, Ph.D., CSAT

Dr. Jane Braun has a specialty practice treating depression, anxiety, compulsive sexual behaviors, and trauma and has been treating clients with these issues for almost two decades.  She has the professional training and experience to provide evidenced-based treatment in a safe, confidential, and respectful atmosphere. In addition to treating these problems, she offers a range of professional services that treat Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and trauma if these issues are also present since a history of trauma and ADHD are often associated with addiction.  Dr. Braun is an Eye movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) trained clinician and frequently uses this treatment to assist clients with overcoming underlying issues related to traumatic events from their past and with overcoming urges to relapse and become involved in addictive behaviors.

Dr. Braun’s Education:

  • Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Purdue University
  • Master of Arts degree in General Clinical Psychology from Ball State University
  • Master of Science degree in Clinical Neuropsychology from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science
  • Doctorate in Clinical Neuropsychology from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science
  • Postdoctoral Residency in Clinical Neuropsychology at the State University of New York School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences
  • Post graduate coursework at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School

Neuropsychology is a specialty field within clinical psychology dedicated to understanding the relationships between brain and behavior and their relationship with the central nervous system, particularly the two cerebral hemispheres and subcortical structures. Given Dr. Braun’s extensive training in Neuropsychology, she has a unique understanding of medical issues that may be impacting a patient’s tendency to engage in addictive behaviors or medical issues that may be contributing to unresolved anxiety, depression, and trauma unlike practitioners who have not been trained in this fashion.

Dr. Braun’s Research Related To Addiction:

Dr. Braun has had a long history of conducting research in the field of addiction and treating patients suffering from addiction. She conducted research and wrote one of her master’s theses on the Necessary Reinforcements for Voluntary Smoking Abstinence Among Schizophrenics, Depressives, and Normal Patients in the Smoke-Free Hospital.  She co-authored a paper on the manner in which Fluoxetine prevented withdrawal dysphoria but not anticipatory anxiety associated with quitting smoking.  She also was a co-author on a poster assessing the effects of Fluoxetine in smoking cessation with regard to the effects on anticipatory anxiety, withdrawal symptoms and sweet food intake. 


Dr. Braun’s Teaching Career:

Dr. Braun is a dynamic speaker having taught Sexual Psychology and Adaptation to Stress courses at the university level.


Dr. Braun’s Professional Association Memberships:

Dr. Braun is a member of the International Institute of Trauma and Addiction Professionals and is also a member of the Illinois Psychological Association.


Dr. Braun’s Spiritual Faith:

Dr.  Braun is a Christian and is well versed in integrating Christian spiritual principles with traditional psychotherapy if you are desiring this form of treatment. However, she respects individual's rights to choose their own spiritual beliefs and will not attempt to pressure clients to adopt her spiritual beliefs if they would prefer traditional psychotherapy that does not include elements of Christianity.


Dr. Braun’s Interests and Hobbies:

During her free time Dr. Braun enjoys spending time socializing with family and close friends, taking walks in nature, enjoying new movies at the theatre, playing tennis, eating at new restaurants to try different styles of cuisine, attending festivals, learning new experiential psychotherapy techniques to help her clients, attending church, learning about interactive and audio visual ways for studying the Bible, and learning about events in the news happening today that were prophesied thousands of years ago Biblically.
